ABOUT ME

​The University of Iowa Law School Clinic introduced me to the importance of representing those who would otherwise be denied access to justice. This led to my first career as a NGO attorney at Legal Aid.  At Legal Aid I helped people gain access to basic necessities of food, shelter, access to health care and peace in the home. I also supervised interns. I saw what an impact doing legal work for those in need had on upcoming professionals.

​​I became a Professor because I wanted to encourage the next generation of legal professionals to make access to justice a part of their career. Bringing clinic type applied learning approaches to learning does this, while bringing the subject alive in the classroom.
